THE WEDDING

Ok...I know its been almost 4 months but here it is:

The Wedding!

So...here are a couple things I need to clear up before I get started...

1.  No one had any idea we were getting married...Matt told everyone we were getting together so he could propose.  So all the people that were AT the wedding had no idea A WEDDING was going to happen...everyone was under the impression we were only getting engaged

Ok thats all I needed to clear up...I think there was some confusion.

So, the morning started off with me lying saying I was going to eat breakfast with Matt's family.
But really I had a 10 something hair and make-up apartment.

(the whole time my family and his family thought Matt was taking me on a day of fun before I was going to get surprised engaged...but really they were in for the surprise)

So I woke up the day of the wedding and told my sisters and mom that I was going to eat lunch with the Brinker's

They Thought:  I was getting proposed to that night...

BUT REALLY: I had a hair appointment at 10, pictures at 4, wedding at 7.

Before I left to meet up with Matt, they were trying to get me to fix my hair, put on make-up, wear something nice.

"Don't Matt's parents get dressed up and go to brunch?"-Harriet Konrad

Matt picked me up and we had to go to my hair and make-up appointment.  The lady did an AMAZING job.  Matt and I were really happy.

After that, we had a lot of time to kill...but we couldn't go back home.  So we ate some kolaches...went and took a couple pictures of me at Memorial Park.  Then went and checked into our hotel early because we were bored.

The hotel couldn't let us check-in early so we sat in the lobby trying NOT to get on facebook or text anyone.

We had a lot of free time on our hands...so we just hung out.  Finally we could check in to our hotel room and get ready to take some "engagement/pre-married" pictures with our photogs.

Our photographers came to the hotel then the 4 of us ventured out to downtown Houston to take pictures.

**Those guys were our photographers...They were seriously, amazing!!  I would recommend you use them!  I am going to use them over and over...not sure for what yet, but our next big thing, they are gonna be there!**

There are a couple examples...

OK  here are some of us getting ready...

So fast forward to the "engagement"...

Matt and I show up what we thought was early...to find out EVERYONE was there!

So I stood outside pretending to NOT know what was going on while Matt went in to take care of our family and what-not.

I sat and waited...and waited because MICHELLE BRINKER was late...but thats ok.

SO FINALLY it was time.

Matt took me into the room with our whole family and got down on one knee.  Although Matt had already asked to marry me, I could not help but to cry.  It was so beautiful.

So after he asked me, we both looked at each other and decided to reveal the REAL news.

We told our family "we've actually been engaged for a couple months, you are not at the engagement party...you are at the wedding...we are getting married in the next room!"

there was a pause...and then this:

Then we change clothes...and move into the next room where we got married..

The rest...i'll just show in pictures....

SKYPE
OK i'll add more later...its bedtime.

lies lies lies YEAH

OK the lying at first was hard to do....now its turned into a game!!!

I'm lying to them...they are lying to me.  muhahahahahah

I requested just now to have family dinner...the night of the wedding.  HAHAHAHAHA  they were like

Chele says "OH YEAH that sounds great!"

Amy says "I'll help!"

Chele says "oh but Mark has an appointment that night"     PUHLEEEEZ

I can't wait to knock their socks off tomorrow.  Matt and I spent about 30 minutes trying to think of the best ways to bust the news open.  It was his original idea, so I will let him break the news.

....Ok my mom just walked in while I was blogging...she is now talking to Amy...almost got BUSTED...

I just dug a nasty clam chowder soup can out of the trash so I can have it for the back of Matt's car tomorrow...might just have the one can...I am supposed to look for string too...guess I better do that before bed

I think I am getting a zit on my chin...great

I have been practicing my smile in the mirror tonight...isn't that awful!???

I have also been practicing my mad face and surprised faces too.  I always feel like a bad liar...so I have to practice.

OK now I am rambling because I am tired and excited at the same time...probably need to take an imodium...yay!

OK...if I can, i'll blog a little tomorrow and then of course after the WEDDING!!!!

LOVE YOU ALL

I can't help falling in love with you

WELL it has been a whirlwind of events since Friday!!!

Matt and I got our marriage license Friday after he got off work early.  Probably one of the easiest things we've done so far.  You can't marry your cousin in Texas...just in case you were wondering.

After that, we went shopping for the rest of our clothes!  Matt needed shoes, and a tie.  While I was still in search of shoes and whatever else caught my eye ;)

So...its really weird because I never thought I'd have "colors" for this wedding.  So the story behind the colors is just weird.  I just randomly picked out that scrapbooking paper to make those flowers with.  It just so happened I had the most of that paper.  If someone would have told me 2 months ago "your colors for your wedding are going to be red and orange"  I would have laughed at them!  But here I am.  So by chance, those are the  "colors".

Well...I finally got some red/orange Tom's for the wedding.  They matched the flowers pretty perfectly but I wasn't 100% crazy for them.  I finally told Matt that in my dearest of hearts...I wanted to wear cowboy boots.  So...I decided one afternoon i'd just try and find red boots...if they were there, i'd get them...if they weren't...it wasn't meant to be.

So Monday afternoon (cutting it a little close) I went to this antique shop that sells clothes and furniture.  They always have a great selection of cowboy boots so I thought I'd go there.  I went upstairs where most of the clothes are, every color of boot except red...and no boots in my size anyway.  So I was pretty bummed but thought i'd look at the other booths just for grins.  I found some orange boots the second I started looking...and I thought that was TOO easy...so I thought I would look some more.  I looked EVERYWHERE in that store.  (its huge)  Every nook and cranny...NOTHING.  I was about to leave the darn place when there they were, in a locked case...RED BOOTS!!!  I asked the lady to get them out for me.  As soon as she got them out I placed them up to my foot...had to be a perfect fit!  There wasn't a price tag on them, so while she called the guy, I tried them on.  They fit pretty good and worn in just the right places.  35 bucks, couldn't pass it up.

So that is my amazing boot story.  Seriously when I say, "everything happens to me!" I say it from a loving place.  Everything amazing does happen to me...can't help it.

So Matt shined 'em up for me.  And now, he's even getting a belt and belt-buckle to match this western theme.  Back in our youths we were both a little bit country...now I guess hes a little bit rocknroll and i'm a little bit ludacris and weird al.  But its alllll goood.

Matt sent out the RSVP email to the families.  I am bummed Scott and Joel can't make it.  But that was the risk we were taking when we did this.  So, sorry ahead of time!!!  Much Love.

Also, I am feeling a little sad about my PaPa not being able to be there, but I'd rather him be at home taking care of my MeMe.

I feel like I have not stopped since Friday...so today I was pretty lazy.  Tomorrow we are leaving for Houston!!  So I have to find unique ways of hiding things in my suitcase...I dunno how i'm gonna hide my dress...have mercy.

OK Well I am so tired and I have a long day of packing and last minutes.

I can't wait to see the looks on our families faces on Saturday night...oh man oh man.  Its going to rock.

SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

kiss me quick

So, my mother left couple days ago...I am HOPING and praying she has no idea.

My mom is really talented with flowers...and she wanted to do the flowers for my wedding(whenever it "happened"). BUT I am not doing REAL flowers, I am doing paper flowers...she helped me make them while she was here.  I hope that is ok with you mom.  You did help me make them!  :)

So I just got off the phone with the cake people...that's all set!
Got my confirmation e-mail from the hair and make-up people.
Talking to the Rainbow Lodge about food and drink.
Matt is taking care of picture stuff...
I need to confirm with the JOP
Almost done with everything!

I am hoping Matt can leave work early today so we can finalize our wedding clothes.  We still have A LOT of details to iron out...but I know it will all work out exactly how it is supposed to.

So really the only people that know we are getting married are the people involved in making it happen so I have heard:

"So...does the groom know its a wedding?"-hair people

"...are you doing this because you are afraid your family is going to object?"-personal trainer

i've heard variations of those things from different people...

I HAVEN'T HEARD "...oh are you preggers?"  which is good...BECAUSE I'M NOT and neither is Matt.

9 more days!!!

But I love Konrad so much...I really am going to be sad to give it up.  But i'm leaving it for an amazing reason.  I wonder how Matt would feel about being a Konrad...hmmm I'll ask him tonight and see how that goes over.

I just wanna be your everything

So my mom comes in tomorrow...I've hidden everything "wedding realted" I THINK.  The rings are hidden...anything I've ever written wedding ideas on are hidden.  My dress...kinnda hidden.  I am pretty sure mom isn't going to be going through my closet.  So I am safe there.

Oh yeah, I bought a new dress!!  I like it much better.  Now I am on the hunt of blue shoes.  I bought some slippers to dye...but I am too scared they will bleed on my new dress...so I think i'll be just trying to find some blue shoes.

I want like that Tiffany's blue...do you know how hard it is to find blue shoes!??   Have mercy.

I bought this reallllly cool thing for people to sign instead of a guest book!!!  And I bought a faux-gardenia for my hair off etsy.com.  Love that place!!  It is a really good place for unique wedding stuff.

Matt's outfit I think is coming along...he needs a tie?  Maybe some shoes?   I have no idea...I don't think he has any idea.  But he is wearing a cool button-up white shirt!  And a sweeeeet coat.

I finally got a letter from the Justice of the Peace guy...I need to call him back and tell him we want him!!!  Annnnddd I got an email from some hair and makeup people.  I am super excited about that because I was soooo worried I wasn't going to find anyone.

Lindsay Calvert posted something on FB today asking for makeup places...and I soo wanted to tell her about my peoples...butttt I guess i'll just wait.  Hope they do a good job.  I am still trying to decide on a hairstyle.

Please say to me, you'll let me hold your hand

So its been a WHILE...so let me re-create a whole almost 2 weeks worth of stuff...

Proposal:  I woke up, the ring was already on my finger.  Matt asked,  I said yes!

Perfect.

Bands: SO LAST WEDNESDAY...We decide to get our wedding bands.  We talked to our guy who helped us pick out my engagement ring.  He is really nice.  It took me about 10 seconds to pick out my wedding band...Saw what I wanted, and knew it was for me.  Matt on the other hand was going to be the picky one.  Matt and I were on the same page with the rings for the most part...no design...no diamonds...just plain.  I am really fond of the yellow gold solid band that my dad wears but Matt wanted something more square and not yellow gold.

What he ended up picking is really nice...its a darker metal...Tacori I think?  Haha, I don't know.  So once we got our rings...we wore them all afternoon.  That was the fun part!!  We went to the galleria to look for wedding clothes.  Within 30 minutes of being in the mall...someone asked us how long we'd been married.  (we also kept singing to each other "not legitttt  not legiiitt we are soooo not legiittt".)
But we did find some good wedding clothes.  I had already bought the dress I think I am going to wear...(which shopping for your wedding dress by yourself...not really fun) Matt found a nice shirt and coat.  We both need shoes and to loose about 10 lbs.  So after the mall, we went to the gym and got memberships.  I have a meeting with my personal trainer tomorrow.  We wore our bands there too.  I signed Sarah Brinker for REAL the first time.  WEIRD  I also realized...I am going to have to get a new e-mail...hmmmm...

Lies:  So I went home this weekend...and I told my parents that Kristen was in town and I was visiting with her.  BUT REALLY:  I talked to the cake people and visited the place where we are having the ceremony and reception.  Both visits were real quick.  I was so scared about gaining weight that I didn't even try the cake...hope its good...sorry :(   I am really happy about the Rainbow Lodge.  Its kinnda tucked away in the heights.  I dig it.

So yeah when I was just at home hanging out, every 5 seconds I had to hold my tounge because I just wanted to shout "WE ARE GETTING MARRRIEEEDDD"  buttttttt I think that would have ruined the surprise.

I really am excited about getting married and the best part is, Matt is really excited too.  We have so much fun together, I can't wait to see what the rest of our lives are going to look like!!!

Oh yeah, and I am needing a wedding officiant...so if you know anyone...i'm dying to find one ASAP!!!!  I think it might be too late once you tell me though...hmmm....

i'm going crazy crazy crazy crazy thinkin' bout you lately

Ah...hearing Matt on the phone with Barry and Chele tonight is cracking me up!

"Keep it a secret"  "Its easy to keep a secret from Sarah, she goes to sleep at 9"

We'll show you a secret.

Dangit Barry...asking Matt if it was a wedding...sneaky sneaky.

Sunday, June 26, 2011

you are the only one...my everything...and for you this song I sing

So, we have set a date!  July 30th.  Well...we set it in hopes that Amy and Barry could come.  So Matt called them first, to see if they could make it.  (Sorry Amy...I know it wasn't the BEST time. )  The date was the most FRUSTRATING thing to set.  OMG

I really wanted to do it when everyone was out of school...lol...meaning...me, Amy, Scott, Louby and Chele.  And we didn't want it toooo close to the grand wedding happening in October...so yeah.

Anyway, so now that the date is kinnda figured out.  Tomorrow I am calling a couple places in Houston to see if they have availabilities on that day/night.  Whatever might be open.  There is this one place I am realllllly hoping for.  I will post more tomorrow when I find out the details.

Wish me luck....oh wait...

 ******

ALSO...he called my dad tonight to ask his permission to marry me.  (I was at the grocery store when he did this)

When I come home, I say "did you get a hold of anyone?"  he nods yes.

He is playing a video game so of course...no talking occurs.  AND I am on pins and needles to know the details.  Finally after lots of "tell me"s and "what happened"s I say "please pause the game and tell me!"

"He just said, I asked...he said yes...your mom said yes...that's it...its private...that's all you need to know"

GRRRRRRRRR

So now I have to wait until the day of the wedding to find out!!!!  Hoping the dad can remember...
(you better remember dad...cause I wanna hear it over and over again)

ps:  I am on theknot.com...and I made a to-do list...I have 61 things to do...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

let the fun begin!

my heart was wrapped up in clovers the night I looked at you

A couple of weekends ago he and I decide to go look at rings.  We had looked online and done our 4 Cs research...but there was still a lot to figure out.

We went to a place in the mall and really didn't see anything that "struck our fancy"

I have gone back in forth with wanting an Emerald cut diamond and round cut.  I was POSITIVE I wanted Emerald cut.  I was soon to find out the down-sides of the Emerald cut.  (expensive, you can see right through it, 1-carat does not look very big hehe)

After learning all that I was so lost on picking a ring.

The next morning, I woke up and realized...It doesn't matter.  At the end of the day, I want to marry HIM...annndddd that's pretty much all I care about.  Once I figured that out, the rest has been a little easy.

So this past weekend...June 12th 2010.  We went to a jewelery store to look at rings.

He and I went back a forth with what we liked and didn't like on our way up the elevator:
-No halos
-no channels*sp
-no princess cut
-no baskets
-side stones or solitaires only

We looked at 2 cases and FOUND IT.  Well..sort-of.
I was looking at a solitaire and He found one he liked better.  Once I saw the one he picked, I fell in love.  Honestly, I fell in love with him again...but of course I loved the ring.  (Something about a man picking out a ring...mmmhmm.)

Last Summer...

Well, I meant to start this blog LAST summer...but I didn't.

Last summer he says "We should do a surprise wedding when we get married"

That's the day I wanted to start the blog. So instead...I am starting it today.

Enjoy our journey on getting engaged without ANYONE else knowing...and planning a surprise wedding.
